Label Profile
Temporary Residence
Baltimore

temporary Residence was founded in 1995 by Jeremy DeVine. His desire to release a split 7” with a friend’s band grew to become an full fledged record label to release more than just his own personal releases.

Following the dictum of “If I like working with them, then let’s release a record of theirs,” Temporary Residence has grown from the split 7” days to a full fledged outfit with 47 releases under their belt, as of March of 2002. The label has specialized in a free flowing post rock sound characterized by Sonna, Tarentel, and Kilowatthours. A unique feature of the label, besides good music, is the Travels In Constants series. The series is a collection of 12 CD EP’s of unreleased songs by well known bands that are sometimes, and sometimes not, signed to Temporary Residence. The series is in its second year and is on a subscription basis. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to their website to get the lowdown on this unique series of releases.

With Explosions In The Sky releasing one of the most acclaimed records of the past year and new acts Cex and Parlour signed to the label, it looks as though the future is bright and varied for Temporary Residence. What started as a small venture has turned out to be a big joy to music fans.
