| I was actually curious about the history of POGs myself, so I looked it up on the sweet sweet Internet. According to several sites, POGs got their name from the cardboard inserts found in the Passion, Orange and Guava juice drink bottles of some Hawaiian dairy in the 80s. Employees there would play with the "POGs" on breaks. Eventually, a kindergarten teacher popularized the game across the state, but inevitably, capitalist assholes stateside got whiff of this game and saw infinite possibilities for commercializing it. The rest, they say, is fad history. |
