 Oh, you may think it's great now, but soon your ears will start to pick out all little compressions of space, the cropped top-and-bottom ends, the slightly atrophied scale of the music when relayed through decent speakers, and you'll begin to get frustrated with an in-PC CD-writer, even if it does burn a disc via iTunes in three minutes flat, and you'll get one of these;

And then all your CDs will be strewn across the floor and making mixtapes (or mix CDRs if you will), will become another sodding chore, just like it always was.

But we like it that way, huh?

 Yes, nick, sadly I've already earmarked a column in October or so when I cover that very topic... (but I will say I've been pretty impressed with the quality of the sound that has come out of the burns thus far... not bad at all.) But yes, we do like it that way.

 Y'know, if you wanted to send "All The Best Detroit Techno" my way at the same time, I wouldn't complain...

 Funny, I promised a cassette of such to Chairman Burns well over a year ago, so when I make his (and I swear, it's coming, Burnsie!) I'll just burn a duplicate for you. Problematic note: a LOT of my favorite stuff is still vinyl only... but I'm fairly sure I can make do with what I have on CD.

 Blame nostalgia, I guess, but I prefer making tapes for people rather than burning CD's. I've done the latter quite a bit, but cassettes seem more...personal, handcrafted. By the way, Todd, I'm stil waiting for my compilation of McCartney 12-inches!
