| Great column, as always. So you saw this show in the Cleveland area? I saw Wilco in Cincinnati in February, and the set list sounds almost identical, even the encores. I agree about Nels Cline, he fucking rips. After the show we hung out by the stage door like a bunch of fanboy geeks and met Nels (who autographed my ticket stub...sweet), who was most pleasant. Tweedy was on a roll during the show, banter-wise. Someone in the orchestra level made a comment like "we can't hear you" or "turn up your mic," so Tweedy ripped him (good-naturedly, of course), and continued to do so for the next several songs, at one point describing what he thought the guy looked like (acid washed jeans, trucker hat, etc.). My only gripe about the show is that at several points it devolved into an unpleasant psychedelic freakout, replete with screaming feedback and raspy yelps, which is a marked change from the show I saw when they were touring in support of Foxtrot. |
| Thanks for the kind words, hunky... and yeah, Tweedy was good with the banter in C-Town as well. We had a lot of "talkers" and he was actually getting kinda pissed, but he kept his humor out front and it was okay. As far as the setlists, here's a link to the Cincy show: http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=820 and here's one to the Cleveland show: http://wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=831 They do look pretty similar, though not totally identical. And I'm happy to say that we got three more songs than you did! : ) |
