Sure, if you're talking about the 'indie elite media', Beyonce and Christina Aguilera don't get much respect. But from the standpoint of total media exposure, record sales, pre-game and half-time shows, touring attendance, and major awards (ie Grammy, AMA's), pop artists overshadow pretty much every band you read about on this website. The majority of those so-called rockists who champion Sleater-Kinney, for example, are marginalized themselves. |
