"In Japanese, “Heavy Gauge” is a term used for grave news or events." Um... sorry, but no. It has something to do with guitars (type of string, maybe?). That's what it refers to here, just as in Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi's album of the same name. That being said, I'm curious as to where you found that definition of "heavy gauge."

Hmm. I found the definitions(s) here: [http://www.centigrade-j.com/translations/heavygauge_glay.htm] As well as another site (which I'll give you once I find)--and a friend of mine who lives in Japan also backed it up. If you're sure it's incorrect--I concede, and thank you for pointing it out!

Heya... I think I can see what happened. Glay apparently used the term "heavy gauge" in this context in a line ("heavy gauge na news") in a previous song, Biri Biri Kurasshu Men... and apparently decided to use "heavy gauge" in a similar context in this later song. Which would explain why none of my non-Glay-lovin' friends seemed to have ever heard of this term used in this way. In general though, I avoid English-language web sites about J-Pop. Some of the stuff they say... *shudder* Well, hope you get to write about a Japanese act you're actually crazy about the next time! There's plenty there, if you know where to look.
