| | An interesting piece which speaks directly to me as I am grappling with the same delusions and realities that indeed, I will never be able to 'keep up' in quite the way half my mind is telling me to. It ws much easier when I ws a teenager with a narrow preference for music that was aggressively defended. Now, I find myself with a preference for everyhting which can be completely debilitating.
The only thing I would like to add to this is something I have discussed with friends, to their horror, on more than one occasion. The MP3/MP4 etc..format not only allows for albums of immense length, but also songs. I eagerly await the first 5 or 30 hour 'song' and were my computer not so limited, would probably try it myself though I doubt the resulting first 10 minutes would even be listenable, such is the discrepancy between my ambition and talent.
So this is a challenge to someone to make a song that exceeds all sensible limits of human tolerance. I know Cornershop had a 24 hour remix of one of their tracks on their website that was streamed live - I heard a lot of that, a couple of hours in the morning, and came back to another few in the evening but at that time, I wsn't ready or in a position to sit there through the whole thing. Sadly, now, I think I am. |
