I don't know whetehr I'd actually say that noise is largely made by males. It is most probably tru, but it seems to me to be one genre of music that is fairly evenly balanced, what with Replicock, Polly Shang Kuan Band, Leopard Leg, Karen Constance, Hockyfrilla, Insect Deli, Winter Carousel - for example. It's true to say that most artists probably are men, but Noise is the one thing that strikes me as being unique in it's equality, far more than the indie scenes and infinitely more than metal.

Altar Of Flies are awesome - good call on that, but only two reviews? I can't imagine that these are the only two releases worth telling people about and I'm sure you've got more words to flex about them too. Keep them coming though - the people need to know this stuff exists.

hey meatbreak, I definitely don't want to discount the women in noise, especially given their growing prominence in the scene. But the ratio is still quite skewed Upcoming editions will feature more reviews. I'm still getting used to the column. There is a load of interesting stuff coming out almost daily. It's a chore to hear much of it, much less write about it.

What?! A chore? Are you serious?! I'm not sure how I'm supposed to read that. If you mean keeping up with the sheer volume coming at you, then fair enough. If it ever gets too much for you, you know where to find me, I'll split the scum-soaked-mind-crushing-oblivion-baiting difference with you. I agree the ratio is skewed, but I think it's worth mentioning - in my experience the ratio has been noteworthy for sure. though why I find it worthy enough to mention is either telling of the balance or telling of my indoctrinated expectation that gigs should always have more men than women. Again, I've picked up a subject that I now want to drop because it's just too nebulous. Anyway, I look forward to more of your writing Bryan and yeah, dead right there's more stuff coming out daily - this scene is one of the most productive around. this and Black Metal. Do people get sick of me mentioning noise and black metal so repetitiously? Well pay attention - these are the two most groundbreaking, most experimental, intersting, abosrbing - humane - inclusive (despite BM's outwardly exclusive attitude) domains around. Find out where your own Family Battle Snake or Blood Stereo are playing and go see. Whatever town you're in, you'll have a noise band that'll take your fucking head off and you'll be grateful for it. Make this coloum as thorough as Beats By The Poun and you can have my equivalent in flesh. I'm off to soak my cells in the latest Birchville Cat Motel. The rest of you can sup wine or whetever civilised shtick you claw at on a friday night to justify your relevance.

whoa, dude. I simply meant it's hard to keep up. I'll post a Family Battlesnake review (frozen womb) next time around....if you like noise and drone, my stuff will make you plenty happy (it's pretty much what I do).

Sorry Bryan - I shouldn't be on the web pissed; got a bit carried away. Still, the sentiment hold, possibly less aggressively. Good call on FBS, I look forward to it - I tried to search you on the internet but couldn't find you - where should I be looking?
