| | Great review Jeffrey. I had high hopes for this movie, but they were naive. I hadn't seen a Michael Bay movie before, so I didn't realise that this meant swinging the camera around like a maniac and an editing style afflicted with attention deficit disorder. For me, its only redeeming feature is the fact that Optimus Prime has the same voice as in the cartoons - but that's just nostalgia talking. A disorientating, nauseating load of old nonsense. |

| | I agree with the review. But I just want to comment here to make a point about 'fanboys'. The Transformers voices were great... they were the original cartoon voices. If Michael Bay had gotten some big name voice actors to do the robots, and they sucked (which they would have, im sure) there would have been a huge fan reaction "WHY DIDN'T YOU USE THE ORIGINALS!?" and non fans would have been like "SHUT THE FUCK UP (fanboys) YOU WHINE ABOUT ANYTHING THAT DEVIATES FROM UR FOND MEMORIES"
I dont know... sometimes, the fanboys should be heard. It would have saved this movie if they stuck to the original ideas on more than just voices. |

| | 1: KeithKawaii - Look up this movie on imdb and then please retract your statement. Also, I'd say Hugo Weaving is a big name, and he did a pretty good job.
2: Jeff - Since you made it a point that you were not a fan of the series, nor Michael Bay movies (to be serious, who really is anyway?), you seemed to really lay it on really thick. It was as if you didn't like that film because alien robots could turn into Earth vehicles. This probably is Michael Bay's best movie (which doesn't say much), and it stays with the storyline of the original series very well. Also, I'm sure with Steven Spielberg as exec producer, he pretty much told Bay what needs to be in the movie and fellow producer DeSanto (of X-Men 1 fame) and his ability to research and characterize the characters, the movie did fairly well, ourside of Michael Bay's fuck ups. |

| | I saw this as the third movie of a theater-hopping triple feature that started with Ratatoiulle and Die Hard 4. I am glad I only paid for Ratatouille. "Transformers" is the worst movie I've seen since "Troy." It fails by even the most modest measure (my friend and I finished off 3/4 of a fifth of Jack during this afternoon, so it wasn't like we were expecting a cerebral experience)and offends aesthetic sensibilities I didn't even realize I was sensitive to until this piece of shit awkwardly gang raped them... If only it wasn't even a failure as the proverbial rapist, sheethed in the accidentally-inverted everlast condom of incompetence. These are the kinds of movies that make genocide inadvertantly palpable to Americans. |

| | I like the point you bring up about Spielberg. He would have done this movie so much better had he directed it. It surprises me how Bay managed to get to where he is (where studio's will give him $200 million dollar budgets without blinking) when he only has one decent/good movie to his credit (the first Bad Boys).
Syurix: I also saw this, Ratatouille, and Die Hard pretty close to each other, and i know exactly what you mean. Unfortunately i saw Ratatouille first. Had i seen it in between the other two, it would've served as a refreshing break from chaos. Had i seen it last, it would've redeemed my faith in American cinema after having had its reputation dragged through the mud. But, as it stands, i'm not really interested in seeing another movie at all for a long while. |
