| | I think Zooropa gets better with age, more so than Pop (though, as Andrew pointed out, there are some excellent songs on Pop). Zooropa has an excellent a-side (first five tracks), while Pop's strongest material hangs in the middle of the record (frome IGWSHA to Miami). I admire what you've attempted with this Frankenstein's monster of a mash up of an album, but I think leaving "Stay" off is simply criminal. Criminal, I say! |

| | About time someone gave U2 some props for this phase in their career. They deserve credit for taking such a radical turn in their style. I already wrote U2 off as arena-rock wankers when the surprising Achtung Baby was released. For a time, they completely alienated their mainstream fans, God bless 'em!
And yeah, "Stay" should've been included! |

| | Great idea...I've been listening to my own version of the two albums for years. Even the Edge laments the unfinished songwriting on Pop. You should have included "Dirty Day", "Gone" and the title track "Zooropa". Oh, and, the Johnny Cash collaboration is pretty cool. Thanks for bringing attention to "MOFO", one of U2's finest songs. |

| | The Cash song was incredible. The whole idea of him singing on layers of Eno-ish synths....just thinking about that track still gives me chills. i wish he had done more electronic music. |

| | Dude, you're really on a roll with these articles. The only real caveat I have is with "Gone". I can understand your rationale for leaving off "Stay" and "The Wanderer", but "Gone" is one of the ultimate funeral songs (as Entertainment Weekly once said, it's a wonder it never got hitched to Princess Diana's wagon in the fall of 1997). It's certainly the best song on "Pop", and I'm surprised it didn't make it.
Am I the only person who actually *likes* both of these albums? I'm beginning to see what you mean about it being the point where they lost their soul, though... |

| | Kudos for Popmuzik being no.1!! It is a great list, I love their '90s albums, Pop is so much better than everything they've done since (although I don't actually hate ATYCLB & HTDAAB, there are some great songs on those albums).
I agree with everyone about you leaving "Stay" off the list; it is a disgrace. I also prefer their Achtung Baby demo outtake "Walk On By" on which "North And South Of The River" was based on. Another great song from their stolen Achtung Baby demo sessions is "Heaven & Hell". You should check it out, if you already haven't got it. I would also include "Lemon(Perfecto mix)" instead of the original; after all, it is regarded as one of the best remixes ever.
I agree with cinatyte about "Gone" - it's a brilliant song (they didn't put it on their best of for nothing). I'm with you on "Miami", I love that song. My list would probably have "Zooropa" (oh, that slow build up and the droning synths make me feel like I'm in Space) and "Do You Feel Loved" (how come nobody noticed how great this song is?), and "Last Night On Earth", and "Babyface".... You know what? You can't make a good post-Achtung Baby -'90sU2 -mash up album. There are so many good songs that won't find their place there. |

| | Always liked Pop, and couldn't understand the over-the-top criticism\derision of it. The last 3 songs in particular are excellent. They turned shit when they abandoned that desire to have a forward-looking slant to their music.. I can't listen to the last 2 albums without gagging. |
