Surprised to find this on Stylus! The night is a good place for listening to Behrman´s "On the Other Ocean"! Didn´t know that Hassell did release "Vernal Equinox" on Lovely Music: it contained all the basics for his masterpiece "Possible Muscis".

beautiful, beautiful article. i really enjoyed it. i haven't heard any of the music, but i can totally relate to the feelings you described, i just experience them with different music. i really love the qualities of music you described, and i have found them in ambient music, like Eno, afx's selected ambient works, or basinki's disintegration loops but i also find them in house music. house music can be so long, repetitive, drawn out, and then slight changes have a huge effect, and it takes you somewhere, takes you back, and you see a pattern arising, and the patterns repeat at different levels, just like life.

I'm also really curious about Lovely Music, now, btw.

thanks for the kind words! and karl, i'd say that the effect of lovely is similar to a lot of house music, in a sense, but i think it's important to note how GROUNDED a lot of this music seems (contra house, which always sounded like 'fantasy' music, albeit in a great way--i.e. the orb, etc.). i really think *everyone* should hear this music.
