This review did little to convince me to buy into this album if for no other reason than it making accusations at the reader before they have dismissed anything as well as justifying this album as "good" based on the fact that every other album ever made could be considered "corny" in some way or another. It comes across as if the writer is a drug addict trying to justify his heroin addiction by pointing out that all of the readers excessively use caffeine. Sure all music could be classified as "corny", but it could also be classified as deep, even the worst of it, in that everything is an insight into the human condition as well as its existence. My point is that instead of focusing on how everyone will dismiss it and how good it is because everything else every made could be classified as bad (or “corny”) the review should have instead just stuck to why this is a good album and why I should hear it. I am well aware of how other music sounds and by have focus points on unrelated judgments you are reassuring my possible preconceived notions and stereotypes towards this genre.

It looks like MEKsLP got offended by the whole "your favorite music is corny" thing. Honestly, it's sad to see people who can't handle a little bit of innovation in a music review. This review DOES explain why the reviewer thinks this is good music, and the way in which he presents his arguments to us reflects how excited he is about the album. He knows that a lot of people would just pass this over, so he's trying to convince us of something. Oh, and maybe you quit reading after the part where he mentions how corny your music is... well after that he discusses what makes the album great even more than he did in the beginning. Just because a review doesn't follow a "normal" review format doesn't mean it's bad. Thanks for the innovative and informative review Matt. I doubt I would have heard of these guys without this review.

Please say that some of this stuff will make its way to the styPod at some point...

A conversation between myself and Colin Cooper about 18 months ago via MSN:

Nick says: i saw some footage of the darkness live last night
Nick says: fuckign awesome
Nick says: the singer got carried aroudn the audience on the shoulders of a fucking big roadie
Nick says: and all the way round he was soloing like van halen
Nick says: fuckign heavy metal heaven
Colin says: True enough
Colin says: But it doesn't really do anything for me
Colin says: No more than Monty Python records do
Nick says: if yer in a rock band it's your duty to behave like that
Nick says: i can see it's value
Nick says: i'd rather listen to snoop doing "beautiful"
Nick says: or hundreds of thousands of other things
Colin says: I can't see passed the idea of them being a comedy band
Nick says: aye
Nick says: well
Nick says: were the monkees a comedy band?
Nick says: or guns n roses
Nick says: de la soul
Nick says: the only band ever that wans't a comedy band is pink floyd
Nick says: and they fucking suck
Colin says: hehe
Colin says: Sorry, EVERY band is a comedy band?
Nick says: well
Nick says: near enough
Nick says: talking heads = big suit
Nick says: stone roses = stupid trousers
Nick says: beatles = walrus
Nick says: orbital = bald
Nick says: name a band
Colin says: ha! embrace
Nick says: the who = keith moon AND a big nose
Nick says: embrace = kazoo
Nick says: the who also = star-jumps
Colin says: name me one
Nick says: um
Nick says: suede
Colin says: suede = leather trousers
Colin says: "head music"
Nick says: ehehehehe
Nick says: i was gonna say
Nick says: suede = "i'm a bisexual man who's never had ahomosexual experience"

yesterday was a tough day for me. I spent all day crying into my pillow with the phone off the hook all because of Matt Cibula and his personal attack on me. or rather the point I was trying to make was that any point Matt was getting across to me was invalidated by his assertion that all music can be considered ludacris. I don't give a shit who Matt likes or listens to, and never did I say that he did not point out why the band is good, I said that he should stick to discussing the band in question instead of asserting that everything else ever made is stupid. It didn't hurt my feelings, much, it just made me wonder why I would want to pick up another "corny" record.

I know no one cares what I think, because I'm rampantly corny and not afraid to admit it, but this review totally rules. Way to break the mold, cabron.
