i can't believe no one's posted on this. this album is complete and utter brilliance. i can't wait to see them live.

I've heard a few tracks on this album...there are a lot of awkward pace shifts for no reason, and at times they sound a little like Wilco, but at others they suddenly start doing weird experiments. In other words...possibly the best album this uneven I've ever heard. I'm going to go out and buy it right now.

Hands down my favorite album of the year so far. And on top of that, their live show is absolutely mesmerizing.

hands down my fave album of 2006 so far. uhhuh, im nearly a year out on this but what the fuck. i got there didnt I and that deserves a self-congratulatory pat on the back because im in love with akron/family for their beautiful abject misery. and that track 11 "lumen" (& i dont mean this to be read as any kind of slight nor praise either for that matter) surely has to be the closest any band has come to sounding like radiohead circa ok computer (yes even the voice)
