I don´t see too many serious stories. It´s all wonderfully interwoven. There is a lot of humour in there as well, beside all the tragic events, the violence. What may seem a bit dense on first listening, gets clearer with every returning to "Chavez Ravine". And Ry Cooder realy succeeds in showing that the best nostalgia always comes along with hurt. And this kind of romanticism is a way to deal with loss anf grief. A fine work! Aside from having different perceptions on certain aspects, I liked reading this review. It offers content and opinion! Food for thought, thanks!
