	This is by far the worst review i have ever read on Stylus (or anywhere else). Given the usual high quality of Stylus review I'm assuming its policy that the reviewer always listens to the album they are reviewing, though there is little evidence in this review. Put simply; The Double are not 60s revivalist. I notice that you do not analyse a single song on the album (apart from to say that two 'work'), presumably because even a cursory examination of the song structures and instrumentation used would reveal that they have very little in common with the music of the 60s. Anyone would think you are reviewing the new Franz Ferdinand album as you pass this record off as the work some retro hype band, rather than that of an inventive and experimental - if not revolutionary - modern indie band. Good Sigur Ros review though!

	Having heard only a few of these recordings, I can't comment completely fairly on them, but I can say that seeing these guys open for Interpol was a miserable experience. During the live set, they sounded like four musicians playing four completely different songs (only one of which came close to working), and the singer was off key on multiple occasions. It didn't feel unique or challenging or even come close to approximating any of the pretentious claims made about this band on the Matador site.

	Tom6917, writing off the 60s revivalist remark is a bit trivial, because 60s guitar-music was not confined to the Beach Boys and the Beatles... Just a point...

	This review isn't bad at all. It doesn't go into the excessive detail that some people may like, but it covers the basic points. "Loose in the Air" is different from "Palm Fronds" in feel and that is due in a lot of ways, like the reviewer states, to getting their drummer back. The bands songs structure don't really vary that much so generalizing their sound isn't really unfair. The two songs he did select really seem to be the best tracks with "Idiocy" being the first single off the record. I guess I don't exactly agree with the 60's revivalist thing entirely but, as 1900usa points out, 60's guitar revival can mean mostly anything, not just the Beach Boys and Beatles. This record is solid though and worth a listen. Palm Fronds is pretty awesome too with a more ambient feel to it.
