| I don't know where it was, but another review referenced the intro as an unfortunate way to begin the album. It also pointed out that it wore out its welcome but I have to disagree. I think it works quite well to draw the listener in so that when the more conventional beat and structure of the track proper kicks in it has more emotional resonance.
Personally I think this is an excellent record but for anyone who has the resources, I would highly recommend the vinyl release over the CD. In addition to having two extra tracks that total more than twenty minutes of music (and music that ends up being the highlight of the album to me) the structure of a double vinyl also helps the album's coherence as an experience offering some intermissions after every other track so that the album doesn't wear out its welcome. |
