At first listen, I thought, hmm, Field Music are playing a clever game with their influences. XTC comes to mind. But then, this understated production, this work with the central things of a song - I loved that! Intelligent music, with a heart and a soul! They open up a field - no pun intended! Nice review!

Quite a few other bands mentioned in a review that claims to want to avoid comparisons to other bands at all costs.
|
Yes, Daphina, and this may happen when reflecting the work of band that is very original and highly eclectic at the same time. And, by the way , I just read you 02.31-comment on pop playground ("music criticism"), and i liked your thoughts there very much. DidnĀ“t find a possibility to check your email. "Music criticism" is part of my work in another country, and I would be interested in your background.

I'm sorry, I really don't understand what you're saying. Did I send you an email? Did you send me one? As for me, I just write music news part-time, not reviews. But I try to keep up with current criticism via Pitchfork, Stylus, etc. and ILM. What I was saying about the review is simple: if you want to compare the band to others, do so. If you don't want to, don't. But don't tell us one thing then do another.
