| I usually dig your reviews, but the opening riff on that video, the vocals, and the overall feel of the video are too lame for me to show more interest (: |

| You're missing out, my friend :) |

| a band like enslaved having an official myspace site is somewhat eerie. the new stuff doesn't seem bad, but it's just not the same. as most black metal bands either disappeared or changed their style like enslaved did, things get a little boring. i just don't like this polished fully-produced sound. this kind of music just got to have this buzzsaw sound, as you call it. without the tinny, flat sound and fast double bass drums it just doesn't give that cold, dark feeling that makes black metal so special. at least enslaved preserved the nagging screeching vocals. |

| I listened to this after being underwhelmed by Isa in the hope that the slavering reviews couldn't be as misguided as they were previously. Again, I was wrong. I just don't get this album either, and it's not because it's clean, or well produced - Heralding The Firebalde by Falkenbach or Ljuset by Woods Of Infinity are incredible folk/prog/psychedelic pieces of work, with clean, well orchestrated productions that could easily crossover into the greater consciusness, were it not for the idiosyncrasies of the vocals. Certainly this album is delicately produced, but the songs just don't emote on any level, nor do they progress to any rewarding break, peaks, riffs or sneak off anywhere totally unexpected - or, I venture, original.
To me, this just sounds like the ultimate peak of open road music like Steppenwolf or Free or something.
That's pretty much my gauntlet on the floor then.
