The "Seneca" video with the gorilla masks has Tortoise performing to a backing track of the studio version of "Seneca." It was filmed for a public access kids' show. Tortoise certainly weren't playing behind the scenes -- that was them miming the entire performance.

Thanks much for the clarification.

Chic-A-Go-Go? I've always wanted to see that. Anyway, it's great to finally have all these tracks on CD instead of in a messy mp3 collection of varying quality. After "The Brave and the Bold," this is the greatest consolation prize ever made.

Too much talking = the downfall of any genre. Couldn't we just say something like, 'a good band to take acid to'?
|
Errr - '...the band’s unjustifiably sullied reputation...'? Unjustified? Did you listen to Standards? It was all elevator jazz muzak. Horrible sounds and horrible playing. This redresses the balance by reintroducing people to what they sounded like when they were amazing.

F the albums. Tortoise kicks it hard live.
