	Everyone has a Weird Al Yankovic cassette tape. Most likely, it was one of the first pieces of music you ever owned (I've got the Food Album and Dare to be Stupid). Not only has he stood the test of time - 25 years? - but he's been the platform to introduce pop music to a generation. Dare I say, that puts him in an league with Beatles and Elvis.

	Yeah, well I actually listened to the Dr. Demento show (I think he retired just a couple years ago) AND saw both the 'Fish Heads', and 'Another One Rides the Bus' videos when they came out (on Night Flight, and MTV respectively). How's that for Nerd Rep?

	Weird Al spoofed a disenfranchised Elvis by drily squandering his refried beans and TV thematics in place of a sequestered look at retro-romantic Californian idiomizing with his late night lament One More Minute, one of those genre-busting outros that leaves Al Shipley gracing for the obvious. It`s merely microcosmic and leads all those subtexts (the Grotesque/Small Town-erisms/Puke America/the Insufferable/Iconic Plundering etc) towards his inevitable post-millennial decay; Weird Al has not turned pro. This could alleviate some of his mismanaged gag-gaffery for the benefit of say a 1983 Madonna (Like A Surgeon) but a dead and buried Kurt Cobain can`t reinstigate a line like "all these marbles in my mouth" any more than say Mark Mothersbaug coughing up flem with "it`s time for crying in your beer". See, the Accordion playing late Yankovic should have kept his Polish roots and this otherness that Weird Al altogetherly dismisses might have a chance at recurring such portentous blotches in an otherwise abstracted & visionary career.
