"They were three-fifths female and sounded it." Great fucking quote man haha. I had to take two minutes to stop laughing before carrying on.

This review is ridiculous and trivializing, like the album itself, which, if you think about it, is really the A.R.E. Weapons of 2006.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 10:16:17 AM by meatbreak:
Graves what are you talking about?! The A.R.E. Weapons of 2006? Hang on, seriously...Contextualise your statement please. If only just for me and my tiny little mind. I have been thinking about it and can't fathom it.

dance music for indie dipshits
Posted 11/15/2006 - 10:37:09 AM by J_R_K_:
you are probably going to have to get over ARE weapons. maybe the rapture is a better example. idiot.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 10:44:42 AM by :
oh snap | |
Posted 11/15/2006 - 10:49:34 AM by :
this one girl I went to Vassar with dated this skeevy guy from A.R.E. Weapons and she was always telling my boyfriend they should have an "electro" party. then i would play D.AF. and everyone would leave.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 10:59:21 AM by meatbreak:
I take it you were taking the piss when you told me to get Dishwalla, Graves. Right? That stuff is teeeeerrrrible. Worse than the Long Blondes even. How come The Long Blondes are being called dance music? They're not in the slightest. really, what's the matter with you people? Just because you call it a pig doesn't mean it is a pig. Yeh?
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:02:35 AM by :
HAAHHA did you pay for it? please tell me you paid for it, Meatbreak
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:06:18 AM by :
But really, listen to Pyrolator. Listen to the 30-second clips on iTunes before you buy.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:06:37 AM by meatbreak:
Of course not, fool. What do you take me for?
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:07:34 AM by meatbreak:
Really, I'm never listening to any of that stuff again - it's so far away from what I consider listenable.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:11:23 AM by :
so are U2 and REM. get it? get it?
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:13:47 AM by :
i told y'all your eardrums would burst up at my crib
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:15:04 AM by meatbreak:
Yeah I get it, but then all that trad mor rock nonsense can't be seperated into the 'good' stuff and the dire can it? It's all a nebulous beige much-of-a-muchness suckling from people who don't like to be challeneged by what they listen to. They probably reach for the hot water bottle as soon as they see shadows.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:15:35 AM by meatbreak:
Your crib's gotta be one hella skank-hole, hun.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:16:16 AM by meatbreak:
Your eardrums would cry and bleed at my gaff. From sheer joy, obvviously.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:20:21 AM by :
yes beige that's a good way of saying it. A wise man once said it best when he said "oh how much more pleasure we taken from being hated on than agreed with"
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:30:35 AM by meatbreak:
I don't think the Long Blondes would agree with that. In fact, Kate is so good at surrounding herself with sycophants (see Everett True's excruciating feature in Plan B) that she probably has no idea what a hater is.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:31:21 AM by meatbreak:
P.S. I do like all this cross-referencing and name-checking of other commenters stuff.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:33:58 AM by :
The Rapture have so much more staying power than the LBs are going to have JRK. Hence "ARE Weapons" analogy.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:35:35 AM by :
But she is, alas, the indie flavor of the week, Meatbreak. Not only that, but she's in a "chick" band. In ten years, they'll be opening for Le Tigre on their reunion tour.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:36:47 AM by meatbreak:
J_R_K shouldn't really be calling people 'idiots' firstly, it makes no sense. Secondly, people in glass houses.... I thought it was fairly unanimo us that the Rapture buried themselves with this album? it's bad. Really bad. jenner sings like Sting for a start and they sound tired. Oh dear.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:38:18 AM by :
But, somehow, the Long Blondes manage to be worse. Like, they didn't have a DFA-released EP to make them somewhat stomachable. Believe me, I know the Rapture are herbs. I've been at parties where they were. But ARE Weapons they ain't.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:38:25 AM by meatbreak:
No, she's not indie flavour of this week, she the flavour of two years ago and since they've only now released their album it's only polite to stand up when it arrives.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:39:54 AM by meatbreak:
I get get into this comparing the Rapture and the Long Blondes. Who started it?! Right, yeah.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:40:06 AM by :
fair enough, I don't speak British indie presspeak anyway
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:40:23 AM by meatbreak:
I CAN'T get into..rather. Not 'get get.' Idiot.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:45:47 AM by :
You should save the word "idiot" for when it counts so you can really savor it as it slides off the disabused whose body, covered in an invisible barrier made of AM radio tuning noises, staves it off for a moment until they're not looking then BOOM. Right in the dome.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 11:51:18 AM by meatbreak:
Yup. I'll save it for then. I'd like to see their eyes spin as the tip backwards. Thanks.

This review gets it right, and I don't care who puts it down. My opinion is firm, and people here need to realize that music is subjective. I don't follow reviewers or message board posters.

RE: Well, I think it´s clear i have nothing to do with these verbal attacks from F"1"lorenz ( I think we know who he is, JassGtaves, nichtwahr?! ) - just to make this clear! Or did you really think it was me when you were looking for some harsh German words. Would be nice from your side to make a statement now, Jass ( and leave irony apart, for a moment, please)
Posted 11/15/2006 - 12:05:06 PM by CokeAnnCowgirl:
Please, tell us more about subjectivity, mvdu. I'm curious about these things. Does that mean different people have different opinions about music? Really?

It was all of us, Florenz.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 12:15:38 PM by florenz6:
Nice try, DS! It fits to my picture. Try for some mobbing? Did I hurt you so much, Disexists-Coke-Ann? Do you want this? You don´t get this!

Ah, I see, this nice guy even faked a pseudo-intellectual comment on Domino´s Josef K-compilation using the slightly changed logo of "F1orenz6" ... I feel sorry for you....

Pity is another form of self-indulgence, right?
Posted 11/15/2006 - 03:01:56 PM by florenz6:
Huhu, "The Lunatics Are Taking Over The Asylum". Best sentence of today´s discussion was the one with the "warm bottle" and "the shadows". (Waiting for the Chorus, Honey-Texists!) The record, by the way, is a well-done exercise of retro echoes, but well, no real risks, no real fun! RE: Jess, yes - sometimes pity is a form of self-indulgence, and sometimes it is not.
Posted 11/15/2006 - 03:12:46 PM by :
compassion isn't self-indulgent; pity always is
Posted 11/15/2006 - 04:11:37 PM by florenz6:
A question of definition and connotation and evaluation, Jess. It´s not per se clear that pity "always" is self-indulgent and compassion "never". Do your semantics! You cannot derive the emotional/cognitive attitude behind a word from the words "pity" or "compassion" only (you do need the context, the person, the frame of mind). So, for example, I think that your kind of telling me what pity and what compassion is seems to be a bit self-indulgent. It seems so.

Does JessGraves enjoy soaking in the shit that spews out of his mouth. There can't possibly be a brain between his ears. "i know a girl from Vasser who knows A.R.E. weapons who i can make walk out of a room when i play DFA when they said they wanted to have an electro party in the first place...look how big my "Cock" is." Oooh that's pretty hardcore.
