| I thought I'd love this album for its sonic reinvention of the old tapes. In fact, I feel like an old-fashioned audiophile - revelling in the cleaned-up masters. Listening to the strings on Eleanor Rigby or the chopped-up fairground tape loops on ...The Benefit of Mr Kite is really astonishing. And it really begs the question, why do we STILL not have proper, remastered versions of the Beatles' albums with fresh liner notes, proper packaging and everything else you'd expect from 'the greatest band in the world'...? |
| we don't have proper remasters, because Apple Corp would rather waste a pass on the tape masters making a(n admittedly sorta enjoyable) soundtrack for a dance troupe instead. |
| Don't forget Live at the BBC in your list of "new Beatles albums." |
| I read something with Neil Aspinall last year where he said he was working on remasters, partly inspired by this project. I am imagining that this is almost a taster... |
| Get yourselves a slate-heavy turntable and an heavier slab of Sgt Peppers vinyl and you won`t fall into the trap of indulging the moolah makers at Parlophone. |
| Sometimes, the big cash machinery and great quality go hand in hand. What a pleasure to listen through these re-workings with all the small deja vues on new places! U2 put out their singles-collection for the christmas time. Well, you can hear the difference. It´s a difference of class! |
| Paul McCartney is 64 now. And another guy, another brilliant guy from Brazil, too. Caetano Veloso! He has loved the Beatles in their great years and stranded, long time ago and for a short period of time only, in London after struggling with the repressive regime of his homeland. I mention this, because some of the people who have a deep affection for the Beatles, might look for (and be very delighted with) the fantastic new album of Cateano Veloso, "Ce". One his most energetic and focussed albums of his lifetime! He doesn´t play the game called nostlgia on "Ce". And Mallory O´Donnell has written a great review in "Stylus" weeks ago. If you have any interest in great Brazilian music outside the soft and smooth Bosa-recyclings, go for "Ce". It´s so rich, so rewarding! |

| People like you do my heart good, Florenz. I mean, I'm the kind of sucker you buys anything soul jazz forces out of its brandnewretro backcatalogue's anus, but the fucking Beatles? Like vinyl is better. Yoko Ono owns most of the Dakota, she doesn't need your money. It would be like remaking Planet of the Apes. [Why?? ?] When I get my MBA in entertainment business, I will be relying on your attitude to line my deepest pockets. Thnx. |

| re: Jess On a nearly regular basis, you miss the point of what I´m saying. It´s like commetning on other people´s articles by just reading the headlines. |

| You're saying a circe du soleil Beatles remix album is good even though it was made for commercial purposes. I'm saying it's not. I did not miss your point, I disagreed. This is my first language, after all. |
