Paul, you are a genius for posting this up. When I come back from lunch, I will tell you the names of some real Brighton bands ans where to find them. Laters, MxBx. P.S. "I mean the cred of The Libertines and the all around appeal of Busted is an obvious no brainer" might be my favourite line.

Best review since Pitchfork and their Jet / monkey piss effort from a couple of months back. Well played sir - youve brightened a very dismal day.

My God! I'm not really familiar with record-companies, but is this the usual way they discuss bands and their music. Why would those guys stay with pricks like these when you read lines like: His point that the production made it sound like Athlete before they sounded like Coldplay made me laugh. We made it pretty hot in the mastering so it sounded great on the radio. I agree international success is a priority and now with Inside being out there in the US market place, we can build their profile and maybe come second album time get a “Chasing Cars” out of them.

I'm not 100% sure that this is real, but if it's not, Mr Scott has been very creative and very accurate in his impressions of an drecord exec exchange. Hephaistos - the answer to your questions is an unarguable YES. This is exactly how record companies talk about bands. What? You didn't think they were in it for the Music did you, maaaaaaan?

I do hope for those of you in the US that this load of bobbins doesn't infiltrate the radio as it has over here. Although it would be good revenge for yous sending us the Killers.

O.K. Don’t let bands like the Kooks fool you into thinking all we’ve got are sculpted music school graduates. Here’s a bakers dozen of the kind of stuff Brighton should be releasing into the wilds of the world. The Flesh Happening - Vital sound, vital band; wuith an anal fixation so deep you could lose an arm up it. Robot Ninja Dinosaur Bastards - The name’s enough for you, right? Enid Blitz - Breezy south coast pop, like the Kooks want to be. With a dark core, but not Darkcore AriesBeauty audialised for your immediate immersion Revenge Of ShinobiPost-rock to get you on your feet dancing. Blood Red ShoesGrimy boy/girl two piece floor-shakers Everyone To The AndersonNod your head that bang it, then get it screwed right off. YuchiTaut, tight, apocalyptic dance guitar war. The PoppycocksThe Kinks passed through the Millenial shredder The Mekano SetNot Goth, but gothic wall of spiraling effects driven sound. Towering BreakerWe do Noise well in Brighton. These guys will take your head off. The Death KitLike the Strokes if they were any good and knew about things like drum machines and samplers. Bela EmersonLayers of cello run through loops and effects to lose yourself in ….There’s more and more and many more. Find them. No excuses for not educating yourselves now. MxBx

At the risk of humiliating myself again, here are those links that work this time. If it's a hoax, I can't even tell. Nor do I care. Good job.

The more I read this, the more i think it's a fake. But like garlad says: It matters not. I'd rather read this for 40 minutes than......

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW THESE THINGS WORK. Except, they have lots of spreadsheets and business objects reports printed out with numbers and equations and things that they use to form opinions at the basic level. But yeah this was great.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
... Yawn. Paul Scott is Barry Scott's brother and you've all just been Cillit Banged. Oh, and Paul also thinks Oasis have much in common with Spaceman 3 - check his wildyly off the mark comparison in his 'Stop The Clocks' review (yes, that's the same review he cited the LP as titled 'Stop All The Clocks'). Genius at work... What next taking potshots at The Darkness?

What a cock mate. Nuddy care if it:s real or not. Everyone knowed how shit the Kooks were already. Paul Scott mate, you oughta be writing for the movies, like the Kaufman brothers and making up the "it:s real but it`s not really, but it might be" to confuse us all. Ha fuckin genii the SCott brothers. PeteGuy you:re a cock

its must be fake but this sort of thing probably does happen, just in a less obvious silly way. but it probably happens with any band that has a bit of success, even bands you all like, like i dunno, arcade fire?

No MoldyMan, you are quite quite wrong, and your naivety shows. This is exactly how biz execs talk, which is why it's so hard to determine it's validity. The aspect that has lodged a little doubt in my mind is that it is rather neatly delineated for the purposes of posting up as a review, with it's references in the right places and concision. Also, no spelling mistakes - The biggest giveaway it wasn't written by any management, right? Anyway, we'll soon find out, since I shouldn't wonder that this has already got to our good friends in the band themselves and next Monday's feature will be a reprint of the full weight of Virgin's wrath and a neat libel summons pdf'd for our download pleasure.

The business does not have as much control as it likes to think it does. Real question is, in a two way conversation, who's the leaker? Or do we not get to see who got cc'd?
Posted 12/01/2006 - 11:24:58 AM by :
No, the business doesn't have control, Meatbreak is right. The markets do.

This is one of the best reviews I've ever read... and that's from somebody who actually likes The Kooks.
