 Thanks for this Nick. I've been thinking of upgrading my stereo equipment for a while and similar thoughts keep troubling me. It's good a read. better that the What Hi Fi's top machine sof the year. Their top rated speakers where £100,000 or something ridiculous. What's the point in that? A whole 'nother essay, that's what. And a CD shaver for trimming the edges off cds to make them sound better. I had to read that article 4 or 5 times and I still don't understand how that canmake any difference at all. The lazer come up from the bottom right? The cd spins round at the right speed or it wouldn't play. It's not like a record is it? Does anyone own a cd shaver? if so, please explain. Thank you.

 This story reads incredibly to my own, EXCEPT. Instead of the Technics stereo, at uni, I had a Technica. The cheaper crapper fake version. See that little typewritten a. I scratched part of it on the right side so that it looked like an s and everyone thought I had a Technics stereo. But it didn't improve the sound one little bit. Bastards.
