| Wow, this review just toetaps on the point before the pirouette can fall; girl in the spangle dress shooting up visuals and I'm paleolithic, a dancing dinosaur. Powell's a put on - the album squeals "Fortissimo!" & Then it all goes crunchy. Oh my lecturer! I put my feet up in class the other day while reviewing Person Pitch for Perspex Sponge the other day and had to get the AC adaptor out to plug this into my earbox. Where was I? Oh yeah, shuffling up the pages, cut'n'paste, tossing the salad, writing a review of you. |
| I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Disexists. |
| see you in rhetoric, disexists. |
| this album kills. there is hope for pop music after all! |
| This review seems a bit conflicted on the issue of the AC crowd taking "flak" for being "hippyish". The reviewer defends PB/Noah Lennox against the accusation, saying he is "more thoughtful and articulate than plenty of artists," and in the next sentence compares the music to "a summer joint," adding more fuel to the "hippyish" fire. I think it's okay to excuse people who don't feel like listening to the equivalent of a joint without getting defensive about it. (For the record, I am a fan.) |
| friendly, you're probably right--it says more about my own self-loathing than anything else...i guess i also see a split, though, between people who see PB's hippy leanings as good (you, me) and people who use it as a convenient but kinda flimsy reason to condescend to panda & all ac-related projects. you know? |
| ...And here I thought the disexixt was finally gone. Wasn't he one of the main reasons the reader comments were taken away? Alas, more boorish pretention in '07. |
| I never want to hear or see the word "hippyish" ever again. Oh my, what a trifling debate. Anyways, I haven't heard this yet but it's the first album I want to get since '05. Whoops! Make that since Donuts and LoveSounds, whenever those came out. |
| i don't know what any of you are talking about, but i just downloaded this record and it sounds wonderful to me. going into spring and then summer, 'person pitch' and the new sea & cake record are tied for the lead in the beers-on-the-stoop-music category. should be a good year! |
| Hippyish and great! |
