| I know everyone rates the first ep as their best, but it's more about how heavy it is. Pelican is much more interesting now. If anything, City of Echoes is heavier than the last one, so it's not just a downward slide into post rock navel gazing. People should listen to onetime tourmates Mono, for the direction pelican decided to go in. "March To the Sea" is still their pinacle, though. |

| They're still a great live show, though the records are declining in quality. I've always found the timid label on Larry Herweg's drumming to be absurd, his style's a different take on the potentiality of a drummer in a metal band. Can he be credited for that or is that too unmetal? |
